Very portable and quick to set up.Drawbacks: The sun appears white, not "orange". As others have stated, the tripod is "springy" and responds to moderate breezes. When you lock the tripod, it has the effect of "pulling" the aim point, so you need to learn to compensate. Good things: It is worth the money you spend. It is a VERY GOOD ENTRY SCOPE if you just want to go out and look. You can see the phases of Venus, sunspots, Galilean moons, etc. It's an excellent terrestial scope as well. I recommend it to beginners because of ease of use. It's incredibly easy to carry and sets up in minutes. I bring this with me on all camping / hiking trips because it's just a small backpack; it's no big deal to bring anywhere. You can easily see lunar craters and the Galilean moons. Has a mirror so you get the correct orientation for daytime use looking at wildlife, etc. I don't have the solar edition, so I can't comment on the sun. |
