3.0 out of 5 stars Square Trade Value?, March 28, 2012
By
I generally research more that the average consumer. I was actually considering a computer through Amazon because of the SquareTrade waranty as this initially appeared to be a cost effective option versus the warranty I usually buy directly from the manufacturer.

I am on my laptop from 5 to 6 hours per day so, usually, just after 2 years they develop 'issues'.

It turns out that there are numerous acknowledgements at the RipOffReport.com on the failings of coverage with the SquareTrade warranty.

SquareTrade Coporate even responded to these comments and indicated maintenance, such as 'manufacturer's suggested maintenance', including having the fans professionally cleaned every year, was required maintenance for the warranty to be honored.

This is patently rediculous for the average computer owner in that it would require an outside service vendor at a high hourly rate to accomplish this on top of the expense of the warranty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Horrible that you need it, Amazing that you have it., December 2, 2011
I've had the Warranty for almost two years now - and thankfully had no need for it until last week. Due to an unfortunate mix of my lack of grip and the existence of gravity - my iPad lost a fight with a tile floor. The process for receiving a replacement/funds is so easy it hurts my brain to wonder why other places make it so hard. I work in the IT field, so I'm used to having to call four people and fill out 12 forms just for a replacement part - let alone a full replacement or refund. All I had to do was log onto the website and fill out a few fields - and my request for repair/refund was sent. Next, they emailed me an overnight UPS label - I packed up my iPad, and away it went. Within two or three days (it was right before Thanksgiving that I sent it in) I received notice that they received my iPad, and that low and behold it was too old to fix - so they would simply credit me an Amazon gift card for it's original worth (not what you could buy it for on Craigslist - which is... 1.0 out of 5 stars Fake reviews, gotta be stupid not to realize this., January 16, 2012

I like how those customers are leaving 5 star reviews, and somehow most of them have an HP notebook, oh and not the mention they only reviewed this warranty but nothing else, none of those reviews say "Amazon Verified Purchase", seriously its so desperate to come here and write fake reviews to attract customers, and fyi I checked all of those reviewers' profiles and only one of them reviewed another item. So be careful before you choose SquareTrade, my friend was not happy with his warranty, his iPad had a water damage and square trade did not cover it.
